It took us a couple of hours before we made it back to our training area by the lake. I couldn’t deny the fact that I was purposefully walking slower than usual, tying to postpone the inevitable beat down I was about to receive. Normally after a fight like yesterday, it would have taken me at least a week to fully recover, but today when I woke up, I felt alright. There were some superficial bruises that still lingered on my arms and legs, and I was a little sore, but other than that, I wasn’t in too bad of shape. I guess that’s one benefit of becoming an orange…

“What the hell was that?” the alien criticized while looking down at me disapprovingly. I was directly between his legs, sitting down in the sand. I had dodged one of his punches by ducking off to the side, only to have been caught by his other hand and pushed to the ground. He could have easily punched or kneed me right in the face, but thankfully he refrained.

“Ugh, I don’t know. I was trying to dodge your punch, but it's hard when you go for my stomach. It’s too low for me to duck and it’s impossible to stop your next attack if I use both my hands to block that one,” I answered honestly, laying back on the ground with my elbows dug into the sand. The alien crouched down over me, put his hands underneath my armpits, and brought me up to a standing position directly in front of him like I was nothing more than a toy doll.

“Here, when I go for your stomach, don’t try to block me, instead, let me get closer and fake me out. Once I lunge with my foot, you can jolt off to that same side, grab my wrist, and spin, then bring your elbow back and snap my arm… here, like this.” He was pulling my body around, showing me the movements. I felt like he was trying to swing dance rather than teaching me how to fight. I wonder if I’m the first person he’s ever trained before…

“Alright, idiot, let's do it at half speed. Ready?” He backed up a few steps, then pretended to punch me. I did what he had instructed, I let him lunge forward, and just before his fist made contact with my stomach, I grabbed his wrist, darted off to the left, spun around in a half circle, then pretended to bring my elbows down on his.

“Good. Faster,” he demanded. Again and again, I practiced the move until he seemed satisfied.

“Alright now I’m going to come at you seriously this time.” I nodded my head and took my warriors pose. He rushed toward me, but this time he didn’t go right for the stomach punch. Instead, the alien went for a few head strikes, which I was easily able to dodge. Then he launched himself in the air so his feet were almost at my eye level.
